SUMMER SLUMP IN THE HOUSING MARKET?

End of Summer is here...it officially ends Wednesday September 22nd. It felt like it flew by
but it's always great to get kids back in school and get back into routines. How was your
Summer?

The housing market finally took a breather towards the end of July and for the month of
August, which was the first time since pre Pandemic. Contracts to purchase resale homes
declined 1.8% in June, according to National Association of Realtors."The market may be
starting to cool slightly, but at the moment there is not enough supply to match the
demand from would-be buyers," Lawrence Yun, NAR's chief economist, said in a
statement.

Here's another interesting stat from Realtor.com showing the low housing inventory:
The national inventory of active listings declined by 25.8% over last year, while the total
inventory of unsold homes, including pending listings, declined by 13.8%. The inventory of
active listings is still down 52.8% compared to 2019.

The good news for homebuyers is that the inventory is increasing slightly and competition
may not be quite as crazy as it has been, so you should start to see more options in the
coming months.
